The Triangle's BEST Homemade Ice Cream

One of my favorite parts about getting to know every corner of our area is trying the most famous local restaurants. If you know me in real life, you know my sweet tooth is unmatched. So if you TWIST MY ARM and make me eat some ice cream, I guess it's a tolerable day at work.

I don't discriminate between any desserts, but local ice cream (which is SO plentiful in Raleigh, Cary and Durham and nearby) has a special place in my heart. Here are some of my favorites, along with can't-miss menu items!

Howling Cow Creamery | Raleigh

This experimental spot is part of the NC State Dairy Education program, so it's the freshest of fresh! My pick? The 4-H Campfire Delight.

Andia's Homemade Ice Cream | Apex

Three words: warm. waffle. sandwich. Andia's is award winning, and for great reason! My craving for July- Butter Toffee Popcorn!

Lumpy's | Wake Forest

Lumpy's is a Wake Forest staple! Their fresh cones can't be beat and their flavor list is seemingly endless. Keep an eye out for their truck around town, too!

Two Roosters | Raleigh, Durham

If you're a bit adventurous, this is your spot! Their partnerships (think: state fair food and local bakeries) keep their flavors unpredictable in the best way. They feature a great non-dairy selection as well! Might I suggest the Sola Cinnamon Donut!?

Pints Ice Cream & Beer | Holly Springs

This hidden Holly Springs gem features something for everyone- exciting, creative flavors and brews for those without a sweet tooth. On my cone- Cookie Butter Oreo in a salted blue corn cone!

Maple View Farms | Hillsborough, NC

Consider this the sweetest field trip ever! They're offering their delicious homemade ice cream (Carolina Crunch, anyone?) and a vast lawn to sit out and picnic.
